Reception Transition
We know that starting somewhere new can feel daunting for children and for parents. Our settling-in process is carefully designed to be gradual, gentle, and led entirely by your child’s needs.
Our settling-in approach:
- Children new to school begin with shorter sessions, gradually building up to their full hours
- Transition is catered to individual children’s needs
- We will communicate honestly with you about how your child is settling
- Some children settle in days; others take several weeks. Both are entirely normal and we will support you through it
Calderdale has created an app with 50 fantastic things you can do with your child to experience new things together. The ’50 things to do before you’re five’ suggests activities that are low-cost/no-cost experiences that include indoor, outdoor, seasonal, home-based and out-and-about activities, that are not only fun but will support your child with their learning and language development.
