Attendance Matters
Why is good school attendance so important?
Excellent attendance and punctuality are crucial to success in school. At Trinity Academy Whitehill, we encourage every child to aim for 100% attendance, maximizing their learning opportunities and helping them to achieve their full potential.
We are proud of our high attendance at Trinity Academy Whitehill. We work closely with all the children and their families who might fall below our expected target. Children may be monitored weekly by the attendance team and pastoral staff.
How we promote high attendance.
Attendance is celebrated in our weekly assemblies and in the school newsletters.
Teachers are kept up to date on their whole class and individual pupils’ attendance. Any concerns are raised quickly and responded to by the attendance and pastoral teams. We will work with the child and their family to support high attendance and remove barriers to attendance.
We celebrate high and improved attendance across the whole Academy throughout the year, with whole school, year group, class and individual rewards.
Lateness
The school gates are open from 8.25am-8.40am when we expect all children to be in school.
Late arrival can cause children to feel anxious or upset so please do all you can to arrive on time every day. We will contact parents of pupils who have patterns of lateness to discuss underlying reasons. Support will be offered where needed.
Holiday in Term Time
Please note that holidays during term-time will not be authorised, and will be recorded as unauthorised absence. We ask that parents check our term dates page carefully before booking any holidays
Any child taking 5 days or more unauthorised absence will be liable to a penalty notice and fine for taking their children out of school. The fine is £80 to £160 per parent, per child. For more information on ‘penalty notices’ please follow the link here.
Medical appointments
Whilst we appreciate this may be difficult, please try and book medical appointments out of school hours.
Medical evidence must be provided for all appointments. This can be emailed through to the ‘attendance@whitehill.trinitymat.org’or shown to staff at the main office.
Children should attend school before and after the medical appointment where possible.
