Spelling Punctuation Grammar (SPaG)

At Whitehill Community Academy, we teach our discrete SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar) curriculum using high-quality resources from Plazoom and Read Write Inc Spelling. Through engaging activities, interactive lessons, and purposeful exercises, we support our pupils to develop a deep understanding of language mechanics.

Plazoom’s resources are used to refine punctuation usage and enhance children’s understanding of grammatical structures. The Read Write Inc Spelling scheme develops students understanding of essential spelling rules and language patterns. By immersing our students in this comprehensive program, we aim to foster effective communication skills as well as academic achievement. Through the use of these schemes, our teachers are able to deliver high-quality SPaG education, ensuring that our students meet language development expectations and that they become confident in applying these skills to their writing.

We believe that effective spoken and written communication is a fundamental skill for success, and our SPaG curriculum is designed to equip students with the tools they need to achieve this.
