Personal Development
At Whitehill Community Academy, personal development is reflected in our school motto of ‘Opening minds, unlocking potential, celebrating success together’, and our school rules (3Rs) being ready, being respectful and being responsible help promote resilience, empathy, respect and kindness for one another.
At Whitehill Community Academy, we aim to develop and nurture the whole child, enabling them to flourish and be ready for life-long learning. We provide a rich, inspiring and inclusive curriculum for all students so that every child reaches their full potential emotionally, physically and academically. Staff members consistently model how to be a good citizen who upholds the school values. We actively encourage visitors to school to talk and share their experiences with the students.
At Whitehill Community Academy, Relationship, Sex, and Health and Education reinforces equality of opportunity; this supports students in fostering respect for all people regardless of faith, race, gender, age, disability and sexual orientation. Our students are exposed to the fundamental British values and they appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Opportunities to explore Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development are woven throughout the wider curriculum and students are encouraged to ask the big questions, probing their own and their peers’ understanding. The RE curriculum and school assemblies enable students to explore these questions further and compounds their empathy and understanding of other cultures.
At Whitehill Community Academy, we are exceptionally proud of the systems and strategies we have introduced to promote personal development to help broaden the students’ development and provide a clear guidance for students on how to grow up to be the best person they can possibly be.
